rachel + lee

This is a highlight reel for a wedding I was fortunate enough to shoot this summer in Durango, CO. It was a super fun wedding, on a beautiful day, with great people. This was shot almost entirely on my T2i other than a few shots with my HVX. enjoy!

deer hill expeditions - wilderness leadership

this summer I was lucky enough to work with deer hill expeditions again (deer hill). I love DHE, it is a truly great, family-owned and operated, company that offers young people to embark on one of the greatest adventures of their lives (for more information please check out the deer hill website, link posted above). this years films project focused on one program, rather than a summary of DHE as last years video was, 'Wilderness Leadership'. with WL, we began our expedition with a backpacking/repelling adventure in Gravel Canyon, UT. from here we went to the Hopi Reservation and did numerous community service projects, such as cleaning the local water course, rebuilding the roof of the family we were staying(camping) with and building a Keva for the local village. overall, I cannot express the experience even I had filming this group. I love these kids and this company and cannot thank them enough for the opportunities they have given me. enjoy.

the carnival

I had never been to a carnival before and having just recently purchased the Canon f/1.8 50mm prime, I wanted to test it out in some truly low light on my T2i. I called up some friends and we walked down the street to the county carnival. what an interesting place. we didn't spend much time there since none of us had much cash and because of that our choice in games was quite limited, but I got a few shots and put together this little edit. all handheld (obviously haha), but I think it came out pretty interesting. enjoy.

so, this past weekend I went down to ridgeway to visit my good buddy rod turner. we decided to do shoot some guns and film a little bit and this is what came out of it. was a super fun, kinda rainy afternoon, brought most of my toys down there to play around with filming. shot with my HVX and T2i. enjoy. =)

"Are you a red neck at heart?
Do you like guns?
Do you dream of buying a bigger truck?
Do you hate fruit?
Do you secretly hate hippies?
Do you buy non-organic food and get it double-bagged at the store?
If so, this is the film for you. It's by my friend George—and it's pretty much the best film I've ever seen." -Ben Knight

testing out my new camera...

I recently purchased a Canon T2i, one of the bodies in the newest Canon hdslr line-up. There are certain benefits to shooting video on an hdslr (it is relatively new), but there are also some limitations (so luckily I am able to keep my HVX). Anyways, the other day some friends and I went down to Bakers Bridge, just outside of Durango, and I figured it would be a perfect setting to try out my new camera! enjoy!

I was recently invited and attended the 'Superpark' event hosted by snowboarder mag with SixEleven Productions. The event is hosted in Mammoth California and basically consists of four-five days of 150 (or so) of the worlds top riders in the same place all shredding custom features created by Loon Mountain, Mammoth Mountain and HCSC. It was an absolutely amazing week, with only one windy cold day to slow down the fun. We were filming specifically for Ride Snowboards during our stay in Mammoth and I am very excited about the footage that we got. An edit should be up by the end of the month! For more information check out

In addition, check out SixEleven's newest/final teaser that just dropped!

Easter Edit

I drove down to telluride for closing day Sunday, which happened to be Easter as well. It was an amazing day spend with great friends and had some beautiful weather. I filmed a couple laps with my friends kolby ward and jerry mark in the afternoon before a few laps to enjoy shredding myself. this is what came out of those few laps, short and sweet!

Silverton Film Festival

I went to 'The Beating' film festival the other night in Silverton, CO. I had submitted my film 'Home Sweet Home.." into the festival and it was shown to a full bar in the company of 9 other great ski and snowboard films. I have shown a video at the festival since its start three years ago and hope to continue being able to for years to come. It is a very unique festival for numerous reasons...the first, there is no other place like Silverton. The second, the audience for these films are people who live and breath these two sports so it is fun to see their reactions and simply the excitement in the room is pretty awesome. Third, and perhaps most importantly, it is an amateur film festival, one that allows filmmakers like myself to see their edits on a big screen, is a feeling like no other (any filmmaker will agree with this). Anyways, this year my good friend Ben Knight won the festival and the Heli Ski Drop at Silverton with his edit 'Scattered Flurries' (posted below).

Felt Soul Media, which Ben is part of, produced the outstanding film 'Red Gold' the other year that went around the world winning awards at numerous film festivals (the teaser is also posted below). I would truly recommend this film to anyone.

Ben is also the man who recommended me to apply to the Banff Mountain Film Festival's Filmmakers Workshop, which I was accepted into in September (yes I know this post is a couple months behind haha). This workshop was unbelievable...not only did I get to watch many of the films being shown at the festival, but I was in 'class' with less than 30 other filmmakers everyday for a week from 9-5 nerding out about filming...learning how to pitch a film, editing techniques, etc etc. Probably what I value most from the workshop were the invaluable connections I made during my time there.
Anyways, after the festival, I was asked to do an interview on the festival, part of which can be seen in this festival recap:

I am pretty excited to say that I will be working with SixEleven Productions this winter, helping them film and edit their new video, "Stop...Hammertime!". This will be their 4th full-length snowboard film and I am looking forward to being a part of it. SixEleven is an up and coming production crew out of Denver, CO, featuring some very talented riders. Anyways, here is the December teaser for the new film that I have a few shots in, enjoy!
