Celia + Sarka - Adventure Time

So here it is...a few months later, but it is finally here! Earlier this spring, I was lucky enough to join miss Celia Miller and Sarka Pancochova on a road trip to California. First, we went to Jamie Anderson's Signature Session at Sierra and then over to Snowboarder Magazine's Miss Superpark event at Squaw. enjoy!

In addition to the edit of Celia and Sarka, we have been busy with commercial work these past few months. Within these projects, I have had the opportunity to work with Anson Fogel (Forge Motion Pictures) on a few jobs- one a personal project, the other a TVC for a Cabela's marketing campaign.

Here's one of the most recent commercial jobs, one that I made along side my roommate Mike Peterson (SixEleven Productions). This project was for a company called 'Huami', an online site where you can virtually shadow incredibly talented people across all passions and professions. A place where you can learn from their real life experiences. For more information, please take a look at the Beta site and sign up!

New Deer Hill Expeditions Video and more

The past few months have been non-stop. The months of July and August were spent traveling all over Colorado (and a week in Reno) shooting a very interesting, documentary style, television series called 'Crushing Hope'. The show follows a former Olympian (Michael Aish), part owner in The Boulder Running Company, who suddenly (3 months prior to the event) decides he wants to be an ultra-marathon runner and compete in the Leadville of the most respected races in the ultra-marathon community. We follow him as he balances a full time job and making the transition to becoming an ultra-marathon runner.

It was a truly amazing experience working with Michael, his wife Nichole and all the others involved. Was a bit of a learning experience for me, but I am truly happy with the content that I produced for the show and the new friends that I have made because of it.

In addition, I recently finished up the latest Deer Hill Expeditions video. I cannot express how fortunate I am to have had the opportunity to work with Deer Hill over the past few years. They are truly amazing. They have become more than just a client, more than friends...they have become family. Anyways, this year I tagged along with a custom program for the Lexington Waldorf school. This trip was 10 days long I believe and took up white-water rafting down the upper San Juan river and then to my favorite native hosts on the Navajo Nation, Earl and Sadie, for some service work. This is probably my favorite video that I have made with Deer Hill.

I also just finished up some work with a newly launched website called Votepedia is a non-partisan political social-networking website. The goal of this shoot was to create two videos: one, a 'thank you' video by the CEO to users for registering and the second, a 'main video' to describe the mission of the site and become viral. I brought my roommate (Mikey P of SixEleven Productions) to assist me with the shoot and take second angle, and I am pretty happy with the quality of footage that came out of this shoot. Here's the two videos:

Lastly, there will be another update soon with a short commercial project made equally by myself and Mikey P (SixEleven Productions) for another website that is to be launched in the next few days. We are both truly excited for the release of this video. It's something new for the both of us in terms of production...and are excited to see the reaction from people once they see it. Stay tuned! I think that's all for now...

Oh! I helped, shoot this fun little recap video with Mike for Inkmonstr! =)

Finally had a day off of work the other day and was able to create this little edit about my grandpa, from a trip I took to visit him earlier this spring. I think my cousin Rachel summed it up pretty well in her blog- "My grandpa will be 96 years old in December. He believes in the medicine of a good cigar and a glass of chilled Carlo Rossi. The importance of having an excellent sense of humor. The benefit of family and friends. Red Lobster at 4PM on Sundays. And that a good story is better than the truth. That scar from where he got stabbed during WWII? Actually his appendix." (read the entire post HERE) Anyways, I got to spend a week with him and occasionally took out my camera and was even able to capture one of his favorite tales. enjoy.

In other news, it has been a very busy month for me and is looking like another couple busy months ahead of me. I have been shooting a couple different TV series for GoDu productions, editing a couple freelance jobs and have a few more possible jobs over the next few months that I am waiting to hear back from. Loving life. Stay tuned!

Sunrise Skate edit + update on recent projects

It has been a busy past few months since I got back from my trip to California! At the end of May I worked with Outside Television again to shoot the Telluride Mountain Film Festival (they asked me to edit an intro for them, that was fun to see on the big screen, I will post it as soon as it is available online). I spent about 11 days shooting this years project for Deer Hill Expeditions last month (it is about halfway through post production right now), helped shoot a wedding with SixEleven, and shot this skate edit a couple weeks ago! Also, I will be busy shooting a tv series the next few months about an Olympic runner and his goal of beating the Leadville 100 in record time.

As for this skate edit, I am extremely happy with the feedback have have gotten. We only had about an hour to shoot, 4am wake up call, and I am pretty excited with what came out of that hour. I wish we had more time...perhaps we will make this some sort of series... ;) anyways, enjoy and stay tuned!

Leif + Amy Hightlight Video, Full Length Video and general update

As mentioned in my previous post, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to shoot Amy and Leif's wedding in Miami, Florida last month. Well, here is the finished highlight video and full length video to go along with the trailer that I released a week after the wedding. I had so much fun shooting this wedding and it was a learning experience for me since it was the first time shooting with my new camera, the Sony NEX FS-100. Anyways, I hope you enjoy these videos as much as I enjoyed making them!

In other news, I am currently in the midst of an amazingly fun roadtrip/filming trip with miss Celia Miller and Sarka Pancochova! Here's a couple pictures from the road (most are from the dunes in Nevada)- puppy multitasking The ride Nevada Dunes Nevada Dunes Puppy at Dunes celia at Nevada Dunes Our view from the dock at our house in South Lake

As for now, we are at Squaw Valley filming at Snowboarder Magazine's MS SUPERPARK event after a long, fun week in South Lake Tahoe filming at Jamie Anderson's private session at Sierra at Tahoe. Jamie rented a huuuuge house right on the water in South Lake Tahoe for all of the ladies she invited (around 12 or so) to stay in. It was wild.
I am also in the midst of editing an 'intro' for Telluride Mountain Film in late May, which I am honored to be asked to do so. I'll be helping film The Rachstyle bike event in Grand Junction next week, skydiving in Moab Utah, filming Telluride Mountain film for Outside television in late May and then starting another project with Deer Hill Expeditions beginning in June. Loving Life.

Front page of the Sunday New York Times and Amy + Leif Wedding Trailer

'63 Years Flying, From Glamour to Days of Gray'

So, at the beginning of this month I was contacted by the New York Times to do a video piece for a story about Ron Akana. He "has worked as a flight attendant for 63 years, clocking some 20 million miles along the way, the equivalent of circling the globe about 800 times or flying roughly 40 times to the moon and back. Though no one tracks seniority across all airlines, he is widely believed to hold the title of longest-serving flight attendant in the United States."
I worked along side Michelle Higgins, who wrote the article, on the two day shoot. The first night of the shoot, we were lucky enough to visit mr Akana at his home, film the interviews and some packing footage and enjoy an amazing homecooked meal made by Ron and his wife.
The next day, we rode on the bus to the airport with Ron and filmed all of the aspects of his morning until we were kicked off the plane because unfortunately, we weren't going to Hawaii with him.

In addition to the New York Times piece, last week I was lucky enough to be invited to Florida to film Amy and Leif Lynch's wedding in Miami. They contacted me after seeing some of my other videos and knowing they wanted me to be the one to capture their special day. I brought along Mike Peterson (SixEleven Productions) as my second camera to help me with the shoot because filming a wedding with another filmer is a lifesaver.

We went down a few days early, as invited by Amy and Leif, to enjoy the Florida sunshine, the beach, ocean and do a little work capturing all the hand-crafted pieces that the couple was making for the wedding (they did everything themselves for this wedding). By the way, I recently purchased a new camera (Sony NEX FS-100) and a bunch of lenses and other accessories to go along with it, so this was its inaugural shoot!

The wedding itself was at The Old Spanish Monastery in Miami. This place was like something you would see out of 'Lost'. It was built in the Medieval Period in Spain and brought over in the 1900's, stone by stone, by an American newspaper tycoon to Miami. The ceremony was beautiful, we made friends that we will keep in touch with forever and shot some of our most beautiful wedding footage to date.

This is a trailer I cut for their wedding, a sort of introduction to their story as a couple and what is to come. Stay tuned for a highlight reel and full length video!

A Fun Day at Breck with Gus / REDMAN same night edit

I apologize for the long delay in any update, it has been a busy past few months! The first update I have, is a video I shot in the beginning of January in Breckenridge with Gus Kenworthy. I drove up there from Denver for the day, met up with Michael Clarke and Bobby Brown early in the morning and went up to the mountain at 7:30am for some private park laps. From here, Gus and I skied/filmed all day until the lifts closed at 4. It was an exhausting day, but one of the best days I have had this season! After a couple other freelance editing/filming projects, I finally had some time to edit the footage and this is what came out!

The Second update, is an edit from the FREE REDMAN show that was hosted by Ink Monstr in Denver earlier this month during SIA. This was a super fun venue, both the show and the filming/post production. This edit was a combination of myself and my roommate Mike (SixEleven). What makes it special was that this was a 'same night edit', meaning we had this edit done the same night as the venue. As I was filming the event, I would bring Mike a camera in another room and then switch out for another camera as he dumped the footage and continued to edit. By doing this, we had this edit completed and uploaded to vimeo by 7am that morning! Anyways, hope you enjoy the video.

Lastly, as for an update of future projects, next month is going to be a fun one! I have a shoot with the NY Times in a week, then I travel down to Taos to film a ski event and then to Florida to shoot a wedding with Mike! Stay tuned!
